Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and Stay Notes, a business operated by an individual in Ontario, Canada (“we”; our full legal name and mailing address are available on request at staynotesapp@gmail.com), about using the Stay Notes browser extension and Stay Notes Pro. By installing or using Stay Notes, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how information is handled.

Using Stay Notes

You may install and use Stay Notes for your own personal or work notes. Please don’t copy, resell or redistribute the extension, try to get around Pro features without paying, or use Stay Notes for anything illegal.

Your notes are yours

You own everything you write in Stay Notes. Your notes are stored on your computer, and we have no access to them.

Keep backups

Stay Notes is built to protect your notes, with backups, a Trash and version history. But computers, browsers and files can fail. Please turn on a backup folder or download backup files regularly. We can’t recover notes for you, because we never have a copy of them.

Don’t keep passwords or other highly sensitive information in notes. Hidden notes hide notes from view; they aren’t encrypted.

Free features

The free features of Stay Notes are free to use, with no time limit. We may improve or change features over time.

Stay Notes Pro

• Prices: Pro costs $24.99 a year or $2.99 a month, in US dollars, plus any sales tax that applies. Payments are processed by Stripe, through ExtensionPay.
• Free trial: you can try Pro free for 14 days by entering your email address. No payment is taken for the trial. When it ends, Pro features stop unless you subscribe.
• Renewal: subscriptions renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. We’ll email a reminder before a yearly renewal where our payment provider supports it.
• Cancelling: cancel any time with “Manage or cancel subscription” inside Stay Notes. Pro stays on until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and you won’t be charged again.
• 30-day money-back promise: if you’re not happy, email us within 30 days of a payment for a full refund of that payment, no questions asked.
• When Pro ends: you keep everything you made. Hidden notes still open with your PIN, stickers stay in your notes, and existing reminders still go off; you just can’t add new Pro items.
• Price changes: if we change the price, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your subscription.

No guarantee

Stay Notes is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don’t promise that it will always work without errors or interruption, or work with every browser or computer.

Limits on our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t responsible for lost notes or data, or for indirect or consequential losses, and our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Pro in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be excluded.

Ending these terms

You can stop using Stay Notes at any time by removing it from your browser. We may stop offering Stay Notes or Pro; if we stop Pro while you have a paid subscription, we’ll refund the unused part.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll change the date above, and tell you in the extension about important changes before they apply.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
